Sydney Sweeney has unveiled a fresh new look for her upcoming role in a biopic about legendary boxer Christy Martin. The Euphoria star gave fans a sneak peek on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set. “Well, the cat’s out of the bag, thanks to some paparazzi in the bushes,” Sweeney joked in her caption, posting a photo of herself rocking brown, frizzy bangs, and another shot flexing her muscles in retro ’90s workout gear.

In the post, Sweeney explained that she’s been training hard to transform into the iconic boxer. “Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both in and out of the ring,” she wrote. “Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story.”

Christy Martin, one of the most prominent female boxers, has an impressive record of 49 wins, seven losses, and three draws, with a career spanning from 1989 to 2012. However, her personal life has been equally dramatic. In 1991, she married her coach, Jim Martin, who attempted to murder her in 2010. He was later convicted of attempted second-degree murder. Christy has since remarried, tying the knot with fellow boxer Lisa Holewyne.

Sweeney’s portrayal of Martin will be directed by David Michôd, known for films like Animal Kingdom and The King. The biopic’s cast also includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, and Ethan Embry. Though the film doesn’t yet have an official title, fans can expect to see more updates soon.

Sweeney’s current streak of projects has been impressive. Following her acclaimed role in the docudrama Reality and the success of the rom-com Anyone But You, she starred in Sony’s Madame Web and led the indie horror film Immaculate. Next up, she will appear in Ron Howard’s survival thriller Eden, which premiered at TIFF, and the family drama Echo Valley with Julianne Moore. Production on the much-anticipated third season of Euphoria is scheduled to begin in January.
