J Balvin on Helping Fans Overcome Suicidal Thoughts: ‘It Brings Me So Much Joy’

J Balvin loves hearing how his music has impacted fans — and he’s not alone in feeling that way.

In his upcoming docuseries A Great Day with J Balvin, the Colombian singer teams up with celebrity friends to explore what makes life truly fulfilling, while also sharing personal insights into his journey through fame.

In an exclusive clip, Balvin joins Demi Lovato for a painting session and a candid conversation about how their struggles with mental health have affected their fans. Lovato, who often speaks openly about her experiences with substance abuse, body image issues, and the challenges of growing up in the spotlight, shared how opening up about her struggles has been rewarding.

“When I stopped bottling everything up, I felt relieved,” Lovato said. “It was hard, but once I shared my story, I knew it would help others. Now people come up to me at shows and say, ‘You’ve changed my life.’ That makes everything I’ve gone through worth it.”

Balvin agreed, sharing how deeply moved he’s been by fans who’ve told him that his music stopped them from committing suicide. “To me, it’s a blessing to hear someone say, ‘You changed my life’ or ‘I’m doing better because I got help.’ That gives me joy and peace,” he said.

Lovato added that while seeking help can be scary, it’s ultimately rewarding. “My life has turned around because I took that step and got the help I needed.”

Like Lovato, Balvin has been open about his mental health struggles. In 2020, he took a break from social media to deal with anxiety and depression. When he returned, he shared that he didn’t want to fake happiness or pretend everything was perfect, calling himself fragile and vulnerable like anyone else.

Mental wellness is one of the many topics explored in Balvin’s docuseries, which features adventures, wellness practices, and deep conversations with friends like Demi Lovato, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Jimmy Butler, Anitta, Xolo Maridueña, and Saweetie.
